Asia Gas Network
Integrated Asian Routes for Gas Transmission at lower cost Minimize

With consideration of Natural Gas reserves  in West Asia, Russia and other CIS countries which is almost 70% of Gas reserves are Concentrated in this region. The Secretariat (APA) asked SAFF-ROSEMOND Company to develop some thoughts of the concept of large-scale multinational project intended to benefit the natural gas producer as well as the gas consuming countries.

SAFF-ROSEMOND Company experts has studied and prepared presentation entitled "Asian Gas Network (AGN)" and has been presented on Asian Parliamentary Association (APA) Sub-Committee on Energy (Moscow 15-16 May 2008).

The report, therefore, presents the preliminary views of an expert group on the concept of some framework for an integrated Asian Gas Network (AGN). It presents a concept Focusing on combining the potentials of gas rich countries in West Asia, Russia and other CIS countries through a network to serve themselves, their neighboring countries and the countries in the wider East Asia. The network would have to serve the interests of all participants including the contributors of gas and consumers of natural and liquid gas.
This concept and framework for gas is developed as an example of how Paragraphs 10 and 11 of the Plan of Action may be explored.

  • Promote investment in utilizing the most reasonable, economical, and optimized transit and transportation routes of energy in Asia;
  • Facilitate energy exchange and swap in Asia aiming at the reduction of energy costs.

The basic concept underlying the AGN is the route design of the gas collection/distribution system which will provide access to multiple sources of gas existing all over the region , and assure in this way a higher security/stability of long-term gas supply to consumers.

Initial approach for utilization of hydrocarbon resources concentrates on establishment of certain natural gas gathering grids in the East Asia, Russia and other CIS Countries in order to secured energy supply system within the main producers and customers and also facilitate and establish gas transmission systems i.e. gas supply trunk lines and liquified Natural Gas (LNG) complexes for supplies to the customers in the region as well as    the East    Asian   and   European Countries.

In fact, some studies indicate that promoting some kind of cooperation in Asia in the field of electricity is potentially very promising. The Sub-Committee may wish also to address other sources of energy both renewable and non-renewable but this presentation focuses on the concepts of utilization of hydrocarbon energy resources within the main producers in the Middle East and Eurasian Countries for efficient supply to the customers in the region as well as the East Asian and European Countries.

I should extend my sincere thanks towards the organizers of this magnificent APA Sub-Committee on Energy, Especially to Asian Parliamentary Assembly "Secretary General" for the opportunity given to SAFF-ROSEMOND Company to address the concept regarding the integrated Asian routes for gas transmission.
